yungay peru earthquake
Does anyone know what the city of Yungay, Peru was built when he was buried on Mount Huascaran in 1970?

MI only require this information because im doing some research on how best to be material (for example, to his house to be built in) in an earthquake. Thanks in advance

In the case of Yungay, Peru, it would have mattered what the rock under the houses were built on – when he was buried by a massive shift ground caused by the earthquake of rock, snow and mud (80 million cubic meters). What matters (in a bad way), however, was that it was located in Yungay a valley below the mountain slope. The valley helped focus the direction of the slide that buried the town. The other factor that mattered was that only people found the high points survived. In other words, the topography (landscape shape) mattered more than the type of rock just below Yungay.
