Machu Picchu one of the seven wonders of the world
Machu Picchu was elected president of the New Seven Wonders World in July 2007. Only one of the ancient wonders of the world still survives – now history lovers are being invited to choose a new list seven. Among the 20 shortlisted sites for the worldwide vote is Machu Picchu, the only reference point selected Peru.
Built in the 1460s and abandoned for three centuries after the Spanish conquest, Machu Picchu, or "old peak" in the Quechua language, was rediscovered by U.S. Hiram archaeologist Bingham in 1911. Machu Picchu is wonderful and incomparable, not only for its unique architecture. The natural beauty is breathtaking.
Peru is known worldwide Because of Cusco, Cusco and Machu Picchu is known for. The Inca citadel, with its incomparable beauty and spiritual strength that emanates from the archaeological remains, is the privilege of being part of that select group of world-class monuments that millions of passengers from five continents dream of visiting. Any attempt to explain what lies behind the charm World Machu Picchu is in vain. The beauty can not be explained. You have to experience what way. But we all agree that the greatest achievement was to choose a site Inkas only and craft an architecture that harmonizes well with nature.
In July 1911, an American scientific expedition led by Hiram Bingham hiking on the Urubamba River canyon, a soft and moist, dense forest region. The savage, wild landscapes, full of distant peaks and vertiginous cliffs the rapid collapse of the river foam bottom left speechless the expedition. But Bingham was obsessed with finding the true t'occo Tampu. Legendary city of the Incas first described in early accounts of Spanish historians. The examiner refused to accept the insignificant ruins t'occo Tampu only 30 km from Cusco were the origins of the founders of Tawantinsuyo, the Inka Empire.
That rainy morning of July 24 after a tough fight a hill known by the locals as Machu Picchu, Bingham stumbled upon an extraordinary complex of ruins hidden by weeds. I was convinced he had found lost capital of the Incas. I could never have dreamed that rather than solve a mystery, was to help create one that has puzzled researchers throughout the century XX.
If this citadel, which appears the stone buildings that rivaled the Cusco, it was not t'occo Tampu, as early studies of archaeologists historians proved, what was it? Why are reporters not mentioned this marvel of Inca architecture that seemed more the work of the winged gods men? The failure of modern science to find answers to these questions are merely added fuel to the mystery that has led to some of the theories imaginative they have developed a thick veil of secrecy about the origins of Machu Picchu .
