South American journey: On a budget?
My wife and I are planning on traveling to Machu Pichu this October or next year some time. I’ve been searching flights and accommodations on the web, but i’ve heard that making arrangements upon arrival will save us money. Is this true?
Also, we were thinking of adding on 4 or 5 days to travel to Easter Island via Chile(Santiago, I believe). Would it be cheaper to book the flight once in Peru? Are there cheaper travel alternatives (train/bus) to get to Santiago?
It may be cheaper to book the flight once in Peru, but it’s safer to do everything now just so you know for sure you have some place to sleep at night. Things can get booked up to the point where you may get stuck sleeping on the street. So for saving money, yes, do it when you get there, but for safety do it beforehand. Good luck!
