peru money conversion
if I receive a monetary gift do I have to report it?

i might be getting $ 27.000 – $ 30.000 depending on the currency conversion. this is all that comes at a time and a bank account in Peru. but the money originally came from three sources (my three aunts) and accounts there, but save time and money that has just opened a new account and transfer all the money there and sent from there. I know arent passive gifts, but I want to know how arent liability amount and if I have to report the money to the IRS. calarify only Peru is another country Peru, Kansas … case.

In the United States people who receive gifts from relatives are not required to pay any tax on gifts of any amount. In general, people are giving gifts required to pay a tax if the amount given in a year exceeds a specified amount. If your aunts are U.S. citizens, which may be subject to this tax, despite living in Peru. If they are not U.S. citizens and not U.S. residents, this tax does not apply to them. Gifts received as a result of work (such as tips, bonuses Christmas, etc) are taxed, regardless of amount. IMPORTANT: If cash (banknotes, coins, etc) is being sent, the amount should be reported to CBP when entering the country and documentation demonstrating that there is drug money may be required. If money is being sent by wire or check, this is not necessary.
