The Real History of Basketball

Basketball, as we know it today was not always as simple as that. There were large, several million dollars stars like Shaquille O'Neal, Michael Jordan or Larry Byrd. There were spaces as there are today – not Spectrum or Los Angeles Coliseum. There was no television or broadcasters, no hardwood floors, or even networks. The basketball game several years ago was a terrifying experience to say the least. It is a right of way and one way to resolve conflicts.

Basketball as seen for the first time instead of 100 years ago and was played by the Mayans and Incas of Mexico, Peru and other South American countries. The game, or what is called a game, was played in a brick pit about the length of a football field, Canada Arena (half the length of half of an American one) and the width was of a football field as well. The teams are composed of 7 men on each side. There metal rings placed at various heights and separation distances, and these rings amounted to a certain amount of points.

Winning one of these games was literally the life and death. In fact, the ball was a ball at all, but it was a severed human head. Players not dribble. Instead, he threw back and forth, like in rugby in Australia, until a player can pull the head through a hoop. On one side of the trench were his opponents rings, the other his own. You could take points away from the opposing team by throwing the head in the hoops team. These games can last many hours without a victor in sight. There was no downtime, half time or removing a player from the "cut" or "Arena" and certainly the injuries were not a factor. The rules were simple and precise: throw teammates and throw into the ring.

Unlike the basketball game we know and love today, the winners will not receive bonuses in its paychecks or get awarded luxury cars, airplanes and luxury vacations. They were not even spoiled. These players were warriors, that simple. The winning team has to do one important thing: living. The losing team was sacrificed in a ceremony in the blood for withdrawing their heads and their bodies incinerated. There was no shame in this death. Either that is the issue, it is war, marriage or crop management and disbursement, now resolved. This was a form of "gentlemen" to manage conflicts without hundreds or thousands of deaths, like the duels in the 17th and 18th century.
