"The earthquake in Peru caused a domino effect that will affect the West Coast?

1) Number of volcanic earthquakes tend to occur in some places due to the movement of continental plates. For example, many volcanoes and earthquakes like the one in Peru are caused by an oceanic plate sliding under a continental plate. In other words, a large earthquake does not cause another major earthquake elsewhere. Instead, they are two results from the same cause.
