Tenerife Holiday Guide

Car Rental in Tenerife

Tenerife Travel Guide and Vacation Rentals – Beaches – Accommodation Apartment Accommodation and Hotels Tenerife – Car Rental in Spain Tenerife – Tenerife Nightlife and Restaurants

Tenerife offers a wide variety of attractions during the day. Buses are plentiful and cheap here, or for the more adventurous there camel, donkey and jeep safaris. Or travel in the comfort of an air conditioning hire for exploring the island, which provides everything from golf and karting to volcanoes, huge formations lava and the pyramids of Peruvian style.

Top of the list – and of course the "high" point of your holiday – must be a trip to Mount Teide, the volcano world's highest and third highest summit in Spain.

The 3718 meters high volcano is the island's most dramatic feature. Located in the heart Las Canadas Natural Park – a protected area, 17 kilometers wide, lava formations, cliffs, vertical walls and volcanic rocks.

Some visitors have complained that package tours to Mount Teide allowed very little time to truly appreciate its splendor. So you may prefer to make your own way there and take the cableway to the top. You climb through the roof to admire the giant crater that measures 20 kilometers in diameter. This is one of the few places on earth where you can see the ocean from atop a high mountain.

The island has many volcanoes, including Chinyero which erupted only 90 years ago.

In Icod de los Vinos, on the west coast, you can visit the Cueva del Viento (Cave of Wind), which is the world's largest volcanic cavity. This is also the place to see the ancient and mythological dragon (Los Dragos) that have thrived on the island since before the last Ice Age. Some of the trees you see today are 800 years of age.

In the south of the island in the Valle de Guimar are six mysterious pyramids Chacona – similar to those found in Mexico and Peru – Built with angular blocks extracted from the lava flows.

Puerto de la Cruz is one of Tenerife's most popular tourist destinations – an attractive town Canaria, with picturesque streets, historic buildings and some top tourist attractions including the complex Lido de Martinez and Loro Park.

The Lido is a complex of seven beautifully presented terraced pools and fountains in the shade of palm trees and lava rock gardens, spread over a total of seven hectares.

In the popular Loro Parque, on the outskirts of Puerto de la Cruz, you can enjoy a wealth of attractions with animals such as parrots and penguins, dolphin show, lion marine, gorillas, an aquarium and jaguars.

Tenerife Zoo and the Eagles Park (Parque Las Aguilas) are both within easy reach of Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas. The zoo has a monkey park and a camel breeding station adjacent.

Trying to fit in a trip to the small island of La Gomera, southwest Tenerife. Take the ferry or ferry from Los Cristianos and lost in the natural wonders of the National Park Garajonay.

An ancient laurel forest is in the heart of this national park of 10,000 hectares where a mist is created magic by trade winds collide with temperatures Atlantic breezes. little light penetrates the this dense forest canopy where the trees are wrapped in moss and lichen.
