People who go on vacation in Cape Town soon realize that you can be in South Africa for a long time without facing its history. Some of the events most significant in South African history came only in the last twenty years, and some of the most dynamic of the population South Africa still live today. From Cape Town is the oldest community in southern Europe from Africa, and is regarded as the Mother City in the nation, which has many historic attractions. Cape Town city center, the city is quite compact, so a walking tour is a great way to see two colorful historic district, the City Bowl and Bo-Kaap.

Tour History

The star-shaped Castle of Good Hope is a major attraction for all tourists on holiday in Cape Town. It is also a great place to begin to start walking the history of Cape Town. This fortification stone was built by the Dutch between 1666 and 1679. Never fired a shot in anger. At the traffic island next to Plaza de la Iglesia, you can see a plaque marking the site of the Tree of slaves, where slaves were once sold. Another grim reminder of that time is the old slave lodge is now a museum. Also be sure to see Groote Kerk, the mother church of the Dutch Reformed Church South Africa. Take a stroll through the famous gardens of the company, if you have the time, otherwise head to the district of Bo-Kaap. This colorful, largely Muslim Quarter has many interesting streets. However, it is the best way to explore a group – never venture there alone. You can learn a lot about it in the Bo-Kaap Museum on Wale street. In Van Riebeek square you can see the 18 th century Church of San Esteban, who was once a school for freed slaves. Go to Heritage Square for a collection of buildings well Cape preserved Georgian and Victorian.

The Muizenberg – St James Walk

This is an exhilarating ride that is sure to be a highlight of Cape Town holiday. It takes you along the coast of False Bay, and allows you to see spectacular scenery and discover some of the shops and restaurants. Start at Muizenberg Station and go north through Park Muizenberg. The synagogue will red and white, the tomb of mining magnate Sir Abe Bailey, and historic house called oxide-en-Vrede. It was at the guest house here that the South African statesman Sir Cecil Rhodes died. Nearby is a prime location for whale watching, if you there in the season. Otherwise, you can enter the Silvermine Nature Reserve. If you go to Santiago, you can see the colorful Victorian bathing huts. This is a great place for a swim in a tidal pool. When you take the way back to Muizenberg, be sure to visit the Museum Natale lips.
