Typical daily menu in Peru?
What are a list of foods (breakfast, lunch dinner) that Peruvians eat on a daily basis? Please name the foods and describe them. best answer 10 points thanks!
These are all examples: Peruvian food has SO much variety and is very delicious
Breakfast: 1. Quinoa(the drink), bread and cheese/butter
2. Milk, bread with fried egg/hard-boiled egg
3. Soy milk(hand-made), with bread and avocado spread
They basically go every day to the bakery to get some fresh bread, but not the white loaf bread we eat. They make the loaf bread in Peru too, but the most common is pan francés, which is a round bread/roll.
Lunch: This is their big meal.
1. Seco de Carne- beef in a cilantro based stew with carrots, potatoes, and peas. (also corn if you want) You can use chicken instead of the beef or ram.
Chicha Morada- non alcoholic drink made from purple corn
Chicken Soup- with all the parts, gizzards, feet, neck, etc.
2. Lomo Saltado- beef stir-fry with ají (chile) in very thin strips, french fries, tomato julienned, and onion julienned in a soy-vinegar sauce. (You can also use chicken instead of beef)
Passion Fruit drink
Menestrón Soup- a basil and spinach based soup, with cubed stewing beef, beans, corn, cabbage, carrots, potatoes, celery and fresh cheese(I use cotija). You liquefy the basil, spinach and cheese– It is green in color.
3. ceviche- They are most proud of their ceviche!
Raw fish in small pieces is cooked by the lime juice. It also has thinly sliced onions, ciltantro, and thinly sliced ají(chile). This is accompanied by some boiled corn-on-the-cob and boiled sweet potato. Note: The limes in Peru are much more acidic than the US.
4. Milanesa con Ensalada Rusa- breaded chicken with beet salad
The breaded chicken is fried. The beet salad includes beets, of course, along with cut-up string beans, potatoes, carrots, peas and corn if you want. These are boiled together in the same pot and drained. You add either a tiny bit of mayo on top of the salad OR just fresh lime juice with salt.
Tea
Barley and Chicken Soup
Dinner: Well for dinner either you have what’s left over from lunch or you repeat breakfast.
Maybe hot chocolate(with cinnamon and cloves) if it’s cold out, with some bread and butter.
Emoliente is a really nice, sweet herbal drink that is sold on the street. They sell this in the morning and at night.
Some people go out and have Pollo a la Brasa, Juicy Roasted Chicken with french fries, or Chifa- Peruvian Chinese food.
It’s really inexpensive to go out and eat in Peru, even for the Peruvians.
A common dessert is rice pudding.
