In seagoing vacations are growing in popularity, the cruises offer ports of call with access to some of the iconic wonders of the ancient world. Many sites are accessible via cruise ship at night or extensions of land that bring each and all destinations in the world life.

Cruises calling to Turkish ports of Kusadasi, Izmir access to visit Ephesus, which was the capital of Asia Minor during the Roman Empire, and is now one of the most impressive and best restored "in the archeological world. Walk through the streets paved with marble and see the spectacular ruins of the Temple of Hadrian, the Celsus Library, the house where the Virgin Mary spent her last days and the amphitheater where St. Paul once preached.
Athens is where many of the deeper ideas of the Western intellectual and artistic society of birth, and is universally recognized as the cradle of democracy. The feature more dominant physically is the Acropolis, which can be seen from anywhere in Athens. Its main building is the Parthenon, a 2500 year old temple to the goddess Athena.
Cruise ships transiting the Suez Canal can stop in Aqaba, Jordan for a visit to Petra. This remarkable city was founded by the Nabataeans, an Arab people who carved elaborate palaces, temples, tombs and warehouses in the rock. El Al Khazneh Treasury building is the most characteristic feature of the pink city from its appearance in "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade."
South America has become a popular cruise destination and cruise the word Lima, Peru have access to Machu Picchu, the stunning "Lost City of the Incas." This is a multi-day excursion from the port that requires a flight from Cuzco and then the train Walk to the plateau of the Andes.
