Is it safe for a young woman to travel on their own through s.America?
I have the intention to go first to Lima, Peru, and then go to Machu Picchu and so on. I bought a single S. Metro America book to guide my journey. One of the ways I'm planning to take a high mountain in the Andes, in part, not all the way. I must admit that I want to go though, I'm being irrationally afraid to go on my own. Any suggestions on what places to avoid and suggestions for keep safe?
I've been to Brazil, Argentina and Peru. Make sure you have a learned a good amount of Spanish before you go. I would suggest a guide at night. There is a rich continent.
