Why: Government of Canada allows drilling for oil in the Arctic?
Please, I know first hand that I am not criticizing Canada! but my vegan friend, who is trying to dissuade me from visiting Inuvik, Northwest Territories Inuit still beating for not resist exploitation oil and natural glass in the north, and for accepting the construction of the Dempster Highway. On the contrary, my friend claims vegan Peruvian natives protest strongly exploitation of their oil and resources, which was a headline this week. In average terms are not my words, my friend said: "REAL natives do not allow governments to "rape of the land for oil." Can anyone make a case for the Inuit and why the construction of the Northwest Territories Oil and natural gas projects was not the same as what is happening in Peru?
Your friend obviously does not know much about oil and gas industry. It is not painful harmful to the environment to drill for oil and gas. Have you ever seen a gas well? They are usually int fields through …. the only things that farmers are always complaining about the access roads to interfere with their crops (access roads are not great either, the Tacoma drive in my job barely fit in some of them after the farmers to reach them). Half of the farmers to access roads anyway. The point is … Drilling is not bad for the environment while, offering a product that can emit greenhouse gases when it is processed and consumed. The actual drilling is not so bad. Now the tar sands are a story completely different …. but in the North that we are not talking about the tar sands … we are only talking about drilling. So I would recommend that your friend learn a thing or two about the oil business and not just repeat what you hear rich university students with nothing else to do, but tries to be earth friendly and dear all (although we live in a country that consumes 25% of the supply of processed oil in the earth).
