The experience of the Ayahuasca is used widely throughout the Amazon for healing and spiritual exploration. That means "the vine of the soul" Ayahuasca is the name given to the central ingredient in the potion mixing psychoactive jungle vine Banisteriopsis caapi, and the leaves of a plant called Chacruna (Psychotria viridis), or a similar plant. The ingredients are boiled together and consumed in a ritual ceremony with a ayahuascero (ayahuasca shaman) to see the spirit world, guidance, and cure mental and physical illnesses.

Ayahuasca has been used for over 5,000 years in a number of countries such as Panama, Brazil, Ecuador, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru and Bolivia, and at least seventy different indigenous peoples of the Americas. Ayahuasca contains tryptamine alkaloids, MAOIs harmine, harmaline and tetrahydroharmine, harmol, Harmica acid, harmine N-oxide, acid and DMT harmalinic.

The Potion

Ayahuasca is a tool of psychoanalysis and psychotherapy that helps people become aware of their problems. Has also been known to cure drug addiction, alcoholism, and a number of incurable diseases such as thought certain types of cancer and AIDS. However, several ayahuasca sessions may be needed and sometimes is used in combination with other remedies.

Ayahuasca is considered a master "teacher plant" and is considered the gateway to the spirit world in which visions and conversations occur. Ceremonies Ayahuasca is frequently held by healers (medicine men) to cleanse the body, mind and spirit of the individuals concerned.

The late Richard Schultes and Terence McKenna, among other thinkers, helped make the world aware of ayahuasca. Advocating the use of the potion to raise awareness that produces several books on the subject. Terence's brother Dennis McKenna is a member of the organization WasiWaska alongside such prominent figures as Dr. Luis Eduardo Luna, Wade Davis, Graham Hancock, Jeremy Narby and Rick Strassman. WasiWaska The organization is on the island of Santa Catarina in Brazil and is dedicated to the research experience of ayahuasca.

Dr. Rick Strassman investigated the effects of N, N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT), giving dose to 60 volunteers over five years. He concluded that the pineal gland releases DMT when a person approaches death, and that DMT connects us with the spirit world. The psychoactive effects of ayahuasca are attributed to dimethyltryptamine (DMT).

DMT

DMT is a psychoactive chemical that produces powerful images and strong psychedelic effects. Usually ineffective when taken orally, as it is easily digestible by enzymes in the body of the MAO. Ayahuasca is usually taken orally, so the vid is mixed with other elements that inhibit the enzyme MAO time for DMT to enter the bloodstream.

Once across the blood-brain barrier, DMT can cause entheogenic experience that last about four to six hours, consisting of intricate audio visual hallucinations, and visions with symbolic meaning or emotional depth. DMT is an organic molecule the brain produces naturally in sleep, meditation and higher states of consciousness. DMT can be found in every human brain, blood, lungs and other parts of the body. Also found in mammals and a variety of plants.

Ayahuasca acts as a nutritional supplement by replacing the lost warehouse DMT in the brain. When taken, one can experience intense hallucinations. It is very common to see snakes during ayahuasca visions. According to ayahuasqueros this is because ayahusca the spirit of a snake, and this is also why the ayahuasca vine is a snake-shaped. Other common visions include jaguars, spirits, highly unusual creatures, geometric patterns and a variety of aliens.

The experience of Ayahuasca

Ayahuasca ceremonies are almost always held in the jungle at night. The ayahuascero dose of the potion given to each participant, then sings "Icaros" songs for the spirits, with the hope that that will be present during the ceremony and aid in healing.

After 45 to 60 minutes of a euphoric ecstasy that is experienced and the first visions begin. Throughout the ceremony, the shaman moves around shaking a rattle, a curtain of cigarette smoke in some patients (also considered to have healing properties) and exorcise evil spirits which are considered the cause of various diseases and disorders.

Ayahuasca often causes nausea, dizziness and vomiting. The Ayahuasca experience consists of audio and visual hallucinations that often contains symbolic or emotional significance to the individual. Many visions during the experience of ayahuasca are of the same nature as the visions during our dreams, belonging to a higher reality than that experienced in ordinary session states of consciousness. The peak experience has a duration of 2 to 6 hours, which brings the possibility of personal growth. Ayahuasca is power, knowledge and vision.

The consumption of ayahuasca in a controlled context shows no side effects, not addictive and produces no withdrawal symptoms. People do not show any symptoms withdrawal when they stop consuming it.

The place is famous for taking ayahuasca in Iquitos, Peru. There are several organized tours to these groups in the jungles to participate in the experience of ayahuasca, as well as many independent shaman that offer their services. Participants will attend a ceremony unique or if they wish, can take ayahuasca during a period of several weeks, while following a special diet as indicated by the shaman. Experiencing a ceremony Ayahuasca is a powerful and transformative in itself, however, the challenge comes when integrating this experience in everyday life.
