Someone once visited Peru?
Hows airport security and the people there? I keep hearing stories of Americans are plagued by the airport customs and police. I have to be careful. Is this true?
The two times I've gone to Peru had no problems with the airport and security and customs whatsoever. As he tries to have a good idea of where you go without loitering, you should have no problem. Sometimes customs will give passengers off when they get nervous when asked simple questions. I think that applies to anyone, not just the U.S.. If you bring electronic equipment as a laptop, I advise you to not keep it in its original box or packaging. You can sometimes get the impression that they are bringing an item in the sale (this happened to a friend of mine who had left his laptop in its original box and had to pay a fine – and is Peruvian!). * However * (not trying to pull the generalizations there), some Americans the idea in his head that only eligible individuals or "special" in comparison with other travelers. That kind of behavior is more common than one might think, and airport security and customs do not conform to it. So maybe that plays a role in the harassment of "stories. I would say if you are planning to visit a foreign country, trying to learn a little of the language (or a guide / maintain a manual) so you can direct yourself in the airport. Also just act cool, do not get nervous if they ask to look in your luggage. While you did not bring anything illegal, there is little they can do for you. Be careful in the sense of keeping track of your luggage at all times, not talking to strangers too, and just keep you head down the stretch. This is the type of warning I would give it to anyone flying anywhere in the world. No sweat through the airport, is sooner than you think.
