Travel in Peru: the study of the unknown "Archaeology of Northern Peru

The region north often unknown Archaeological Peru is missed by thousands of visitors each year. The North is home to an exciting and memorize series of pre-Hispanic (or even pre-Inca) ruins and monuments. Many people have heard of Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley, but what to know about the Sun and Moon temples and the Valley of the Pyramids?

Once the center of the Lambayeque Moche, Chimu and cultures, known for its advanced metallurgy, now around Chiclayo and Trujillo are the main agricultural products of high quality cotton, rice and sugar. These societies existed from about 400AD until the rise of the Incas in about 1400 AD. Today you can visit and explore the pyramids, walk through the colonial cities, see the rural lifestyle, which still retains many elements of the pre-Hispanic local culture and enjoy the many archaeological finds inspiration fear-local-possibly the best museums of Peru. What makes these companies so mystical is that not much is known about all these as they used any form of write to record their history – recording only works of art and ceramics.

First time visitors should begin in the city of Trujillo, Peru the third largest city. In Trujillo you can visit the colonial government and religious monuments in this beautiful city. Nearby you can visit the Temple of the Sun and the Temple of the Moon. These are the pyramids were built around 500 AD and the largest of these is believed to be the largest pre-Columbian structure in Peru. The Sun Temple is the structure great, but unfortunately most of it has been washed away. The first looters had diverted the river from the town to access some hidden cameras in their search gold, washing away much of the structure. Nearby is another temple pyramid of the moon, which is best preserved and most extensively excavated.

5 km from Trujillo are the ruins of Chan Chan, which was the largest pre-Columbian city in South America. The extensive ruins are a testament to the advanced civilizations living here for many centuries before discovered 'America South Columbus. Created by the Moche people covering an area of 20 km  and used be home to 30,000 people before the conquest by the Incas in about 1470 AD.

Trujillo visitors must make their way to the coastal city of Chiclayo. The houses City Royal Tombs Museum, where the Lord of Sipan, one of Peru's most spectacular discoveries unearthed in 1987 and considered one of the most important archaeological discoveries of the last 50 years. The city is also home to a number of other museums and cultural centers.

Near the city also has the archaeological complex of Túcume, known as "The Valley of the Pyramids." The complex is enormous and includes Túcume 26 adobe pyramids and mounds built by Sicán civilization around 1000 AD

Seeing all these places makes you appreciate the history ancient culture that exists in this great country. What is surprising is that how the new Peru is molded around its rich heritage and proud.
