How many ancient civilizations in Peru before the Spanish invasion?
I read a lot about ancient Egypt and Rome, but not on Peru. Was it just Inca or Maya? Did they live in the mountains or in lowlands and only exist in Peru?
The Maya and Aztec civilizations were Peruvians. The Inca Empire extended over much of Peru and the current day Bolivia, Ecuador, Argentina and Chile, and encompassed both mountain regions and lowlands. There were a number of ancient civilizations that came before them in Peru, both in the lowlands and the Andes. Some of them are the Chavin culture, culture Tiahuanaco and Wari culture.
