Pandemic alert around the corner? The swine flu or the H1N1 virus is spreading globally in a fast pace

Pandemic alert around the corner? The swine flu or the H1N1 virus is spreading globally in a rapid pace.

Who called for an emergency meeting to discuss the latest developments in the spread of swine flu worldwide.

The WHO has increased the alert level 5, which is just below the level of pandemic alert track – Level 6.

Swine influenza is caused by the H1N1 virus that has killed 21,940 people in 68 countries so far. 125 people have died from the flu epidemic so far.

As shown on this map, the cases are spread over much of the world right now.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Experts are unsure of how the virus will develop and whether they mutate and change into a variant of flu more dangerous.

The following table shows all laboratory-confirmed cases of new influenza A (H1N1), as officially reported to WHO by States Parties to the International Health Regulations (2005)
