Do you have to go through customs in the scale of a country?
I travel to Chile next month in the U.S.. We are flying from EWR (Newark, New Jersey) and have scales on MEX (Mexico City, Mexico) and LIM (Lima, Peru) before reaching our destination of SCL (Santiago, Chile). Do we have to go through customs, both in MEX and LIM, or simply SCL? I'm finding conflicting answers here. Regards,-Andy
If the airline or airlines flying can not give a specific answer, try contacting the embassies of Mexico and Peru. I have never been put on stops in South America but also in Europe, unless I'm about to actually enter the country or boarding a U.S. flight Consolidated, which have not had to go through customs to establish extensions.
