If you are a Christian, you've probably heard a thousand times to do the will of God or hear God's call. Many of us are perfectly content to believe to obey God that means going to church every Sunday and put a check in the collection plate. However, for most of us, God has bigger plans, and when you hear your call, you can go further with his faith than he had ever dreamed.

A personal story

When I started to serve the Lord through teaching and writing for 20 years, I never imagined my work would take me to Southeast Asia. Although I have been on mission trips before my call seemed to be the development of techniques to study the Bible to help others learn how to bring the Word.

Recently, a pastor-evangelist Southeast Asia contact us through the Word Among Us website. He invited us to teach pastors, teachers, students and missionaries in his country to study the Bible. Talk about hearing God's call!

The trip has taken our ministry in an exciting new direction. It has long been hoping to expand our ministry beyond U.S. borders. God opened a door for us to teach some simple techniques to study of the Bible to people in Southeast Asia, who have limited access to study tools, reference resources, or specific instructions on how to study God Word.

We have never seen people so eager to learn. Some traveled many miles on foot and by bicycle to bring back the message to their communities. Hope return each year to teach at a Bible school which opened in June 2008.

When called to serve yourself

To be called to serve not necessarily mean you need to enter the seminary. There are a number of ways in which God can call you to help minister or spread their word. Could be as simple as taking a friend to church or helping in a soup kitchen, or as large as travel across the world to become a missionary.

Of course, you can be that while you do not feel called to be missionaries, who feel called to help the missionaries you know. There are a couple ways to do

1) Donate. "Donate" does not mean just financially, but there is no doubt that traveling missionaries need some financial assistance. They may need medical supplies and educational materials that can offer. They may need a donation of time, where you can help with organizing things before leaving. Much is going on a mission trip, and talk to people who know that they can give you a better idea of how you can help.

2) Pray. Never underestimate the importance of prayer. You can pray not only for missionaries, but people in the areas you are visiting. Take note to pray for them every day, or organizing a group prayer for the missionaries in their church. Prayer is the invaluable support for missionaries, and costs only a few minutes of your time.

If you are called to go around the world or called to offer vital support to those they do not reject the will of God in their lives. Listen to Him, and you may be surprised at where your call and take his faith.
