With all the constant news coverage on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, however, not be confused with the parallelism as talks between Israel and the Palestinians " (Why not say that Israel and Palestine?), A lot of people sincerely ask, "Is there a country called Palestine?" Like most of things in the Middle East, the answer is not simple. Right now, officially speaking, no country called Palestine that ISA internationally recognized. The Palestinians are Arabs who originated in the area now called Israel and the Westbank and Gaza Strip. These three areas, Israel, the Westbank and the Gaza Strip as a whole form what the Palestinian people called Palestine and identify with their homeland.
Until 1917, the area of Palestine was part of the Ottoman Empire ruled from Istanbul, and Palestine was not an independent country. Palestine had its own local customs and dialects of Arabic, than other areas in Arabic, but now it was thought in Palestine more as part of "Greater Syria" and not as a separate and distinct country. That all changed in 1917.
In 1917, after the British and French took control of the Middle East from the Ottoman Empire, which divided the region in the states – countries that did not exist, certainly not with these limits arbitrary. Instead of an area of the province in general, Palestine became a country run by Britain, including the area of present-day Jordan, and and Israel and the Westbank and Gaza. This new country of Palestine was further divided into "Jordan" and "Palestine".
The British had agreed to create a "Jewish national home" in Palestine, to allow Jewish immigration and settlement. Under pressure from the occupation British colonial rule and Jewish immigration, stronger and clearer formed Palestinian national identity. The Palestinian national identity grew dramatically after al-Nakba, the disastrous 1948 war that saw the majority of Palestinian Arabs became refugees and lost their homes. Their homes was subsequently taken over by Jewish immigrants, and Arabic names of their peoples become equivalent sound similar in Hebrew. The state administers the British before Palestine disappeared and instead Israel was created. The Westbank was taken by Jordan and the Gaza Strip was captured by Egypt.
The majority of Palestinians still live as refugees, viewing the creation of Israel as illegitimate and refer to Israel as "occupied Palestine". Through the Oslo Accords, Palestinians gained some autonomy over some land in the Westbank and Gaza Strip. But the Israeli occupation continues to limit their freedom of movement, his control of the ports and airspace controls your water supply and electricity, controls your phone service, and inhibits their ability to build a strong economy through repeated closures and roadblocks. Israel may stamp the Palestinian autonomous areas closed whenever you like, citing security concerns.
As Palestine is a country, it has a unique culture and national identity connected to a specific land. It has its own flag, its own national anthem, and within the Westbank and Gaza and its own limited government. But it is an occupied country, and the Palestinians still have not achieved their independence and freedom in their own state. They are the indigenous people land of Palestine, so if the nation of immigrants to Israel is considered a legitimate country then there is absolutely no moral or legal basis to deny that Palestine is also a legitimate country.
Is Palestine a country? Yes, deserves, and it will.
