What are the best resorts in South America to travel with a 10 months old?

I like to visit Peru and Brazil in November (Thanksgiving time). However, I worry about whether it is safe to go there with my baby 8 months old. I heard that the altitude in Machu Picchu could make it difficult for a baby to breathe, and I personally believe that Amazon will not be safe either. So I'd like to know the locations of other baby-friendly to visit in the area where the whole family can have a good time. All suggestions are welcome! Thanks

I think I had better bone up on policy countries in South America. Brazil is relatively safe and has modern medical care, if necessary. However, the country is plagued by violence gang. So if you go, that was strictly stay in the tourist mode. In other words, do not stray from the beaten track. Argentina is relatively safe to visit and is the SA country most similar to the U.S.. I'd be careful traveling in the area however, because their real estate ads to use proximity police station as a point of sale. That should tell something. Uruguay, like Argentina, is a big country in Europe and is very safe compared to other countries South America. Montevideo also has wonderful beaches and beautiful people. With a baby 8 months old may not be interested in beautiful people … but then again. Chile is also safe and has an interesting area to the south, which is reminiscent of Switzerland, but with volcanoes. You will also find a lot of ex-Nazis that, so if fascism is not your thing, you might not want to open their egalitarian beliefs. Apart from these four countries, I would not visit the rest, much less with a baby. Bolivia, Peru, Venezuela, Colombia and Paraguay are political nightmares in the revolutions and violence is an everyday constant. If I were in a state suicidal mood adventure that happens to me every twenty years or so, I risk, but definitely not with a baby. Personally, I'm partial to Buenos Aires because Parisian atmosphere of the tango. But that's just little old me sophisticated. I hope that I served a purpose.
