Has anyone been in Peru? specifically Lima?
I'm going to Peru for two weeks in July to look after orphans and conduct and theater evangelization. While tourism will be there … Im Does anyone have any advice on what to bring, what vaccines to get, where go, etc? thank you very much!
I do not need to get any shots, unless you go to the jungle, in which case you need vaccines for yellow fever. It is winter in July, so bring long sleeves and jackets. It is very cold in Lima, but the high humidity makes you feel worse than it really is. As for touring the safest bet is the main square (called "Plaza de Armas" and "Plaza Mayor" in Spanish). There you will see that the government palace, the Cathedral, Church St. Francisco, Osambela House, Congress, the former Inquisition and lots of other sites. The change of the palace guard is at noon and, if still there lunchtime, I recommend t'anta, behind City Hall in "Walk the scribes"). If you are looking for more pre-Inca and Inca, try make lunch at "La Huaca" restaurant overlooks an ancient pre-Inca shrine in Miraflores. If you are a bit more adventurous, you can try to reach Pachacamac, an ancient pre-Inca and Inca sanctuary. If you want to relax, go to "Larco Mar" a great place full of restaurants and bars overlooking the sea (about Hotel Marriott) in the district of Miraflores.
