ASAP! Science trick question? Confused?

If you can not read at the top I'm confused with this question of science: a volcano Misti in Peru. Peru is on the western edge of South America. How could I have formed this volcano?

This volcano is likely to be formed due to subduction. Los Andes (for which Misti is a party) is a continental volcanic arc formed by the subduction of the Nazca plate under the board Sudamericana. As the Nazca plate descends into the mantle, which melts, and magma rises, forming volcanoes. A summary of the process is here – http://members.aol.com/rhaberlin/images/mbandes.gif This section illustrates the situation quite well, I think. Igneous activity refers to the increase of the magma, and the grids of smoking (clearly) volcanoes.
