Why in some Om/Aum symbols is the 3rd outer curve facing upwards and some facing down (most)?
After perusing different Om/Aum symbols I have noticed that most of them are drawn with the outer 3rd curve facing downwards. However, my boyfriend and some websites have the symbols depicted with the 3rd curve facing upwards. Is there a difference in meaning, or is this just a artistic difference. Information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for pointing that out, I never noticed it before. I guess one way is correct and another isn’t (I don’t know which, I’m not an expert in Sanskrit). But I think the correct one is with curve facing down, it’s how to draw “u” in Sanskrit if I’m not mistaken.
