What are the main border disputes between Chile, Bolivia, and Peru?
I’m working on a Model UN resolution, and I was basically wondering what each country wants. Also, if anyone knows how Venezuela views the situation, that would be great.
Hello:
The main border disputes are:
1. Chile with Peru: Sea border. There is a problem about the line traced on the ocean that divides the two countries. the border is near Arica. This has to be with fishing limits.
2. Chile with Bolivia: Bolivia was the owner of part ofthe current region of Antofagasta (akaSegunda Región (2nd region) or Región de Antofagasta). They are not claiming this region, Bolivians only want to have a seashore territory.
3. Venezuela is agree with Bolivia. Many policitcal reasons are involved, but a main fact is the President Chávez said at one time: ‘I dream to swim in Bolivian sea someday’.
