Location: Cordova, Alaska, the Copper River Delta Shorebirds Festival is a dream come true watcher bird. Hundreds of thousands of birds migrate the delta of the pleasure of watching.
Copper River Delta Shorebird Festival
It is held every May, the Copper River Delta Shorebirds Festival is the place to go if you want to view shorebirds. Literally millions of birds migrate to the delta on their way to breeding grounds in the Arctic. The small town of Córdoba knows a good thing when he sees one.
The Copper River Delta is essentially a refueling site for migratory birds. As you probably know, migrating birds are distance of the tail when the migration urge overcomes. Many of these birds fly for days until they must have food. The master plan, Mother Nature has provided that the river delta to the fast food stop for these birds.
Due to the frenetic pace out by migratory birds, food becomes a problem important. Since arriving in the Copper River Delta, the land and EATA and EATA … … and eating. It is a rare opportunity where you get to see so many birds on the ground during a period so over time. Put another way, is an opportunity for bird watching luxury.
Birds
So what can you expect to see in the delta? With so many birds, IÂ'm not going to go into details, beyond saying that you can see a variety of loons, grebes, herons, swallows, Yellowlegs, talkative, shorebirds, swans, Carbonero, crows, ducks, thrushes, jays, warblers, Alcids, Finches, Jaegers and re-name a few. Put another way, you wonÂ't run out of things to see.
Getting There
Getting to Cordoba isnÂ't the easiest things to do. YouÂ'll to fly from Anchorage, Juneau or Seattle. Alternatively take one of the ferries in Alaska, but it is necessary to examine the specific mechanisms involved.
It's the rare day when a birder can see millions of birds in their natural habitat. The Copper River Delta Shorebird Festival provides that each year the day.
