History project help…ancient peruvian ceramics?
I am doing a project on ancient Peruvian ceramics and their function in that culture. Since the ancient Peruvians had no system of writing, their artwork was highly representational and helped preserve their culture.
I ran into a problem: the last part of our project requires that we write one to two pages about a CURRENT DAY EQUIVALENT of these vessels. I don’t really know what to day…..
what contemporary object serves a similar function?
It depends on the piece of ceramic and what it did for the ancient Peruvians. If it stored grains you could compare it to grain bins on American farms. If it held water, compare it to todays water bottles made from plastic. If it was decoration, compare it to pictures in our homes or in Art galleries. If it was just an ornate box to hold household items, compare it to our modern day kitchen cupboards or bedroom dressers. Or even to plastic storage bins sold at Walmart or Target stores. What ever it did in the past has a modern equivalent. Granted a lot of todays items are not nearly as decorative as their items because we have books, TV, computers, newspaper, the internet. You can take it from there. Good luck with your paper.
